4 Best Free AI Video Generators of 2025 (I Tried Them All)

In this post, I will show you the best free AI video generators.

To test these free AI video generators, I had a simple setup. I would send this text prompt to every tool to see what happens:

A cute cartoon robot walking through a futuristic city at sunset, waving to people, cinematic style.

Spoiler: A lot of tools claim to be free, but they aren’t. I’ll show you those too, so that you don’t fall for the trap.

Let’s go!

1. Adobe Fireflies

Adobe Fireflies promises a free AI video generator.

Let’s see if it works.

First, let’s head over to their homepage to see if there was a prompt box without a sign-up:

There’s one! Looks promising.

However, when I entered the prompt to view, it asked me to sign up:

No problem, if I get to use it for free, why not sign up?

As I signed up, I was presented with a box stating that generating AI videos is a premium feature. However, the tool gives you two videos for free!

So I gave it a shot. I entered the prompt into the prompt box again:

I waited for a minute.

And here’s the result:

Although it’s a short clip, I like it. I was expecting it to be bad. I know the AI video generator technology costs a lot, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if the tool was paid and with no free videos.

Also, since the free plan had 2 free videos, I gave it another try. I created a similar video with the same prompt, but this time in a TikTok/Reels style.

Here’s the second result:

I tried it again, but then it asked me to pay for the next creation.

Nonetheless, they promised a free AI video generator, and that’s what I got. At least I got a feeling for how it works and what kinds of content I can make with it.

However, if we’re honest, this is quite limited. Just two creations, and each clip is just 5 seconds in length.

We’re in the early stages of this technology. I believe this to evolve a lot in the next years. Who knows if in 2–3 years you can make entire movies for free…

Let’s move on to the next tool, though.

2. Prome AI

Then, the next very promising-looking free AI video generator is Prome AI.

Their Google page has crazy good reviews, and they promise a free AI video generator.

This must be a banger, right?

For my convenience, this tool didn’t even ask for a sign-up. It made me go directly to this page, where I can start creating:

I then had to choose a style. I went with the Sci-Fi option:

Only then did the tool ask me to sign up:

I did, and then the AI started to create my video for free!

At this point, I had tested like 10 tools in a row that were supposed to be free, and none of them were. So I was happy to find out that this one didn’t redirect me to a landing page that asks for a payment, but it started to make the video instead.

Here’s the result I got:

That’s a short AI clip that clearly looks uncanny and weird. But at the same time, it’s kind of impressive considering the tool is free.

I had to try it again to see if I’d get a better output.

Here’s another one that I made with it:

To be fair, that’s a nice clip.

It doesn’t have the people around that I asked for. But anyway, it remains intact for the short 5 seconds, and it kind of looks cool.

Once again, I’m sure this is not even close to what you’d expect from a free AI video generator. But at least this one got something done without asking for a payment, unlike most tools out there.

3. Artilist

Artlist.io is the next tool that promises a free AI video generator.

Let’s try it.

On the homepage, it shows a prompt box, similar to ChatGPT, where you can enter your video idea.

However, this tool doesn’t turn text directly into videos.

So I can’t use the prompt I tested with other tools. Instead, I have to give it an input image.

That’s why I entered the same prompt to ChatGPT to make an initial image of the scene. I did this so that I can then take this image and enter it into the AI image-to-video generator by Artlist.

I tried to enter the image, but the tool then asked me to sign up.

I did that to find out that it had deleted the image I just entered the view.

However, that’s just a small inconvenience. I entered the image to the view again with the same prompt I always do:

After this, I sent the image with the prompt to the free AI video generator and waited.

After a minute, I got this image video back:

However, it turns out I can’t even download it without a paid plan.

Also, if I’m honest, the video is not too impressive. Especially if you compare it with Adobe, this is nothing.

However, I have to give it to them since they promised a free AI video generator and gave something free.

But to be fair, one bad video you can’t download is not really what users think when they search for “AI video generator free”.

So, compared with other free AI video generators, unfortunately, this was one of the best, and it’s not good.

4. CapCut

CapCut is a popular video editor, but apparently, they also offer an entirely free AI video generator that turns your text inputs into videos.

This looks promising to me. I didn’t know such a feature existed in CapCut.

Let’s give it a try.

First, I noticed that CapCut is not an online tool. Instead, it’s a downloadable piece of software. I did the download to save your time. Let’s see how the video creation went.

Then it prompted me to pick the AI video feature. There are instant AI videos, brainstorming, avatar videos, and media matching.

To be honest, none of these AI video generators sounds like something I was expecting. To me, these seem more like video editing-related features.

However, I gave Instant AI Video a try. I entered the same prompt I did with all the other AI video generators:

Then the tool prompted me to sign up.

I did this, but at this point, it got a bit annoying since I had downloaded the tool, and now I’d have to go back to their site to sign up. I can see where this is going…

Then I started to create the video. Or the AI did. I just had to wait for a minute.

To my surprise, I got something back! I was 100% sure that this was a paid generator because of the number of steps I had already.

However, here’s the result video I got from CapCut AI:

Ok… That’s just absolute trash. It’s an AI image with a voiceover and some text.

Let’s be fair. Out of the tens of thousands of people who search for free AI video makers every month online, I bet nobody expects results like this.

Also, considering I had to download the tool, sign up, and wait a lot at every step of the way, I have to say this was a low blow. If you want to make videos with AI, don’t waste your time with this feature.

Although one thing I must say: CapCut is an excellent video editor tool. There’s no denying that. I think it’s one of the most beginner-friendly tools out there for that purpose.

But the AI video generator is just bad.

By the way, from this point on, the results are going to be either bad or nonexistent. There are no good free AI video generators on the market yet! That’s just the name of the game!

Wall of Shame: “Free” AI Video Generators That Weren’t

Towards the end of the post, I wanted to create a list of tools that were supposed to be free but weren’t.

So here it is:

  • DeepAI — Promises free, no-login AI videos. In reality? Paywalls at every click. Total waste of time.
  • Kapwing — Signs you up just to hit you with a paywall. No thanks.
  • Pika AI (via Pollo AI) — Love Pollo AI, but “free” apparently means “expensive”. Paywall right after sign-up.
  • Runway ML (via Pollo AI) — Multi-hundred-dollar yearly fee for what was supposed to be free. Hard pass.
  • Kreado AI — Technically free, but only creates rigid AI presentation videos. No creative freedom here.
  • Synthesia AI — Slick marketing, but it’s only niche AI presentations. Definitely not the text-to-video magic you expect.
  • Genape — Stuck in a never-ending queue. Free? Maybe. Usable? Nope.
  • Zebracat — Claims to make free videos “10x faster”. Spoiler: you’ll be 10x faster at finding the paywall.

All these tools claimed to be free, but once you signed up, you immediately had to pay without getting any sort of free trial or anything like that.

Thanks for Reading

If you made it all the way here, thanks for reading. Sorry, but right now there are no better free AI video generators. Also, most of the free AI video generators aren’t free.

I think these tools aren’t supposed to be free since they cost a lot to run those expensive AI models.

The companies would be taking big hits if they offered their tools for free.

However, perhaps they could stop claiming their tools are free if they aren’t.
